Derry Moroney, an Australian photographer, recorded an incredible natural wonder after months of severe rain and storms in northern New South Wales. Moroney was able to record a stunning “Tree of Life” forming over Cakora Lake, which is located two hours south of Byron Bay, using his drone.
The lake appeared the same from the ground, but Moroney was “totally shocked” when he saw the film from his drone. The stunning “Tree of Life” formation that had grown on the lake’s water after heavy rains was captured by the drone at an altitude of 119 metres. As the oils settled in the lake, they saturated the water with tree oils, turning it dark and producing a lifelike tree-like pattern.
Lake Cakora is located on Australia’s North Coast and is well-known for its beautiful beaches and natural attractions. The lake is occasionally swamped by ocean tides, which cause its waters to rise and decrease with the rain.
Moroney, an accomplished nature photographer, began documenting the lake approximately a year ago using various drone camera techniques. He’s been documenting the tree’s changing colours and size on his Instagram feed, and he’s been returning to the lake every two weeks to photograph changes, first noting the varying shapes and colours after around six months.
